Narrative by Lee Summerford

Jesse Hobby was my great-great-grandfather. He had a heat stroke on August 9, 1862, at the Battle of Cedar Mountain, as a result he permanently lost sight in his left eye. He continued to fight and was wounded again at Fredericksburg, Va., December 13, 1862. Jesse continued to serve and was one of only 21 members of this Company listed as being present at the Surrender at Appomattox Court House.

These men originally enlisted with this Company but for one reason or another they wound up serving in other Regiments and Batallions. The most notable of these soldiers is Manasseh Henderson whose father raised a Company from Worth County (Company B, 10th Ga. Battallion, "Worth Rebels") of which Manasseh would later rise to the rank of Captain.

Bull Johnson may have been the nickname for one of the other Johns(t)on's listed.

Quiett deserted September 16, 1864, and took oath of allegiance to U.S. on September 24, 1864.

Robert G. Ford, Jr., supplied Green Wingate as his substitute in this Company and later re-enlisted in the 5th Regiment, Ga. Millitia and eventually served as Captain of the 10th Regiment, Ga. Millitia, Company F.

Maje Rhouse and John Rouse may or may not be the same person.

This list is a compilation of every recorded Muster Roll or List of the members of this Company I was able to locate. Therefore, I have included questionable spellings with ( ), however, if based on my research I determined that one spelling was in my opinion correct, I used that spelling only. (An example of this is McCraney (McCranie) and Deriso (Deariso) - I included only the spelling that I thought was correct.
