Ed's Croft's Flying Artillery was a little known Battery - but according to the research I've done at the National Archives they deserved a great deal more recognition. The men in Croft'sBattery were comprised of 300 men from Georgia and Alabama (primarily Randolph Co.). Many joined in"groups" and were related to each other.

These records contain birth, death, andmarriage records. There will not be records of entirefamilies. Volunteers read and transcribe microfilms whenthe Church is allowed to film the records of governments andchurches. As they are checked and made available, they areadded to the IGI. The Ancestral File is a collection of genealogies submittedby people who do genealogy. Anybody can submit theirs andeverybody is encouraged to do so. The Pedigree Resource issimilar to the Ancestral File. This information is generallysubmitted through the Internet. The IGI, the Ancestral File, and the Pedigree Resource File(along with the Social Security Death Index and tons ofother data) is made available at the sitewww.familysearch.org. There is no fee nor subscriptionrequired to use the site. It is an incredible resource! (Ifound over 4400 names in 13 generations by just searchingfor my mother's mother!) Anybody can "upload" theirgenealogy and have it made available to everybody - again,Thank you - Earl Capps
