Elmer Lee Clements, 84, of Tifton died Friday, September 12, 2008 at
Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will
be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Oak Grove
Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Thompson will officiate with
burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as
pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of
Oak Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Saturday,
September 13, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Clements was born on December 21, 1923 in Ben Hill County and was
the son of Samuel Roberts Clements and Mary Johnson
Clements, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Wiley Clements and Eston Clements. He was a retired
postal clerk with the United States Postal Service and a member of Oak
Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United
States Army in World War II.
Mr. Clements is survived by his wife, Lillian Elizabeth Patrick
Clements of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy
and Linda Clements of Tifton and Mike and Jo Clements of Tifton; two
brothers, Wayne Clements of Cumming and Gerald
Clements of Mississippi; three sisters, Lucille Dowdy of Cordele, Reba
Crumley of Valdosta and Marie Hand of Brunswick; five
grandchildren, Ryan Clements and his wife Sarah, Amanda Chilvers and
her husband Will, Joshua Clements and his wife Beverly,
Jason Clements and his fiance' Maddy Bodes, and Jasmine Clements and
her fiance' Mathew Smith; and one great granddaughter,
Alexa Clements.
