FITZGERALD - Sam F. Glenn Jr., 84, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 428, Fitzgerald, GA 31750; Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 71341, Albany, GA 31708 or to the donor's favorite charity.
Mr. Glenn was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Rochelle, to the late Samuel Franklin and Willie Matilda Wilkinson Glenn. He was a 1936 graduate of Rochelle High School, a 1938 graduate of Georgia Military College and a 1940 graduate of the University of Georgia.
Mr. Glenn served in the United States Army in England during World War II in the finance department. He was a former partner at Freeman Feed & Seed and in 1953 became general manager of Planters Warehouse until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Glenn was a member and former administrative board member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Elks Club, having served as Exalted Ruler and a member of the Fitzgerald Country Club.
Mr. Glenn is survived by one son, Wilkie Glenn of Fitzgerald; two daughters, Cheryl Glenn Howard of Tucker and Jennifer Glenn Phillips of Leesburg; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eugenia Studstill of Ray City and Mary George Bynum of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Rhodes Glenn. Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
