Weldon Luke, Ben Hill farmer
Mr. Weldon Luke, 84, of Fitzgerald, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan.
21, 1999, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Mr. Luke was born in Ben Hill County on October 7, 1914, to David Zechariah and Betsey Ann Tomberlin Luke.
A farmer, he attended Oak Ridge School in Ben Hill COunty. He
had been a deacon of Abba Baptist Church for more than
50 years, becoming deacon emeritus in 1980. He was a Mason of
Irwinville Lodge 315 and a member of the Irwinville lodge
of Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include; wife, Ruth Peterson Luke of Fitzgerald;
son, John W. Luke of FItzgerald; daughter, Marie Gaines of
Fitzgerald, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the
Paulk Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Howard Kitchens,
Randy Danielle and Mark Stone officiating.
Music was provided by vocalists Wanda Ash and Pat Zorn.
Pallbearers were David Brown, Freddy Brown, Royal F. Brown,
Scott McGUinty, Wayne McGuinty and David L. Gentry, Jr.
Honarary pallbearers were Ronny Branam and Howard Maddox.
Interment was in Luke Cemetery in Ben Hill County.
