Mrs. Luke, age 83, dies, is buried in Luke Cemetery 

Mrs. Thelma L. Luke, 83, or Route 3, died THursday, Sept. 16, 1993 at 12:55 at Dorminy Medical Center.

Mrs. Luke was born in Nashville, Tenn., July 13, 1910, to Buena Myrtle Hobdy and Andrew Tyler WIlliams. Her Husband,
Robert Louis Luke, preceded her in death. She had lived in the community for the past 66 years, moving to Irwinville
in 1927 to live with her aunt, Veola Lee, and to teach school at New Tapley School. She was a past Worthy Matron of
Eastern Star, Ada Chapter 15. Mrs. Luke, a farmer's wife and homemaker, was a former employee of H. R. Kiminsky & Sons
and Vandiver's 5 & 10 Store, a former nurse's aid at Ben Hill and Irwin County Hospitals. She was a member of Abba
Baptist Church.

Survivors include: sons, Gen Luke of Fitzgerald and Jimmy Luke of Raleigh, N.C.; daughters, Nita Clements of Rebecca,
Lillian Cleghorn of Plymouth, Fla., and Arbie Palmer of Fitzgerald; brothers, Eason B. Williams of Franklin, Tenn.,
and Andrew Williams of Nashville, Tenn; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild
{my Cody}.

Funeral services were held at Abba Baptist Church in Ben Hill COunty Saturday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Howard
Kitchens and Howard Long officiating.

Music was presented by soloist, Skippy Mulkey, and pianist, Patsy Spradlin.

Serving as pallbearers were Billy Zorn, Johnny Luke, Kevin Luke, Bobby Clements, Larry Davidson, and James B. WIlliams. 

Honorary pallbearers were Ralph James, Ronny Branam, Jim Horne, Edwin Branam, Howard Maddox, J. R. Branam and George
Clements.

Interment was in Luke Cemetery in Ben Hill County. 

The Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
