Arbie Mae Luke Palmer, 84, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, May
23, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, May 26, 2018, at The
Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev.
Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Luke Cemetery, in
Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive
friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in
Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Palmer was born April 25, 1934, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the
late R. Louis & Thelma Williams Luke. She was a 1951
graduate of Irwinville High School. While living in Florida, she worked
for Plymouth Citrus Products in the lab as well as
Minute Maid in Research and Development. In 1976, she moved to
Fitzgerald from Zellwood, Florida and worked in the lab at
Delco Remy in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Palmer was very generous and was a
supporter of the Christian Kitchen. She enjoyed spending
time with her family, cooking, loved growing flowers and enjoyed
watching birds. Mrs. Palmer was a member of Crossview
Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters: Nita Clements of Ocilla and Lillian
Cleghorn of Apopka, Florida; two brothers: Gene & Betsy
Luke of Fitzgerald and Jimmy & Anita Luke of Benson, North
Carolina; sisters-in law: Nellie Barnes of Arkansas, Bertha
Carpenter of Mississippi and Jean Hancock of Mississippi and a
brother-in-law, Hollis Palmer of Alabama; nieces and nephews:
Sheri (Lee) Tomberlin, Patricia (Jeff) Rineair, William (Marlana) Luke,
Donna (Wayne) Reeves, Bobby (Mokana) Clements and
Linda Faye (Jimmy) Shealey. Many great-nieces and nephews and
great-great-nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years,
William Palmer.
