Mayhue Tomberlin, 68, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, January 28, 2012,
at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, February 4, at New
Prospect Baptist Church with Rev. Robert
Chaudoin officiating. The family will greet friends at the church
following the service.
Mr. Tomberlin was born December 11, 1943 in Ben Hill County to the late
James Clark & Ossie Mae Calhoun Tomberlin.
He was a 1961 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and STAR Student at
FHS. He was graduated from Georgia Southern
College in 1965, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in math and
chemistry. Mr. Tomberlin worked as a Procurement and
Contracting Officer for the United States Air Force, based at the
Warner Robins Air Logistics Center at Robins Air
Force Base. He returned home to Fitzgerald seven years ago having lived
in Cochran. He was a member of New Prospect
Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Rachel Tomberlin of Fitzgerald;
children and their spouses: Jason Marvin
Tomberlin & Linda of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Dee Tomberlin of
Fitzgerald, and James Marion “Jimmy” Tomberlin &
Christina of Cochran; grandson: Caleb Tomberlin of Cochran; and a
sister and brother-in-law: Bonita & J.T. Sellars
of Fitzgerald.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials in lieu of flowers
may send them to New Prospect Baptist Church,
