Joseph Bertha Williams was born 17 Apr 1941, in Augusta, Richmond, Georgia, to Mr & Mrs Bertha and Rubena Williams. He was a historian and author of numerous books. He died 2 Nov 2019 in Aiken, Aiken, South Carolina, at the age of 78. He is buried at Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbia County, Georgia, along with his parents.
Joseph was an avid geneologist. He self-published two books on Columbia County Georgia: Land We Love (2005), and Mountain Climbed (2010). He also self-published Pleasures Remembered, a biography of his life. A descendent of the African-American AVERY and POLLARD families (which married into the DENT family) all from Columbia County, Georgia, Joseph was always willing to help family members connect to their lineage. His genealogical research on the DENT families is well documented in the book Mountain Climbed. |
