GATLIN GRIGGS, 93 Hunt Brothers

LAKE WALES -- Mr. Gatlin Griggs of Lake Wales died of a brain tumor Wednesday (May 11, 2005) at Hospice of Palm Beach County. He was 93.

Born in Blakely, Ga., on Nov. 23, 1911, Mr. Griggs was a caretaker for Hunt Brothers in Lake Wales. He was a member of First Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Wales, where he was a deacon and on the Usher Board.

Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by his wife, Gussie Griggs. He is survived by his daughter, Ethel Henderson, West Palm Beach; five grandchildren; six great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Epps Mortuary, Lake Wales. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Institutional Baptist Church. Burial will be in Willow Lawn Cemetery in Lake Wales.
