Daniel James WESTBROOK was born December 26, 1819 in North Carolina. His father was Thomas Westbrook and his mother was Mary SHINE. About 1840 he married Malinda M. POWELL, born in Georgia about 1824. Malinda's parents are unknown. Daniel and Malinda had 10 children. The last 7 were born in Early county Georgia. Daniel owned land where he farmed and where they raised their children.
Their children were: By 1860 Daniel and Malinda with their young family had settled at the Octavia community in Early County Georgia. Daniel enlisted with the Confederate States of America at Blakely in Early county attached to Company H 29th Georgia Battalion of Calvary. Before 1870, probably after Daniel returned from the war, they settled in the city of Blakely. The last time they were found on a census was 1880 where they lived in Damascus.

Daniel died September 29, 1893. His burial location is unknown. Malinda's date of death and burial location are unknown as well.
