Thanks to
Jamie J Goode of Atlanta, Ga for this wonderful
contribution to the Fulton County GAGenWeb site!
Fulton became a county in 1853. This Psuedo Census
of Atlanta is extracted from the 1850 census of DeKalb
Co, GA. It is the portion called the Atlanta District
and was enumerated by Wm Goldsberry between 6 Nov and
19 Nov, 1850. The major portion appears in The Atlanta
Historical Bulletin, Vol VII, No 27, January 1842; April
1842. Ruth Blair was the editor of this extraction.
It lists families from 1 to 394 with some omissions
and repetitions. In additon to this part is a supplement
that does not appear in the Bulletin. It was also taken
by Wm Goldsberry on 19 and 20 Nov, 1850, but he started
his enumeration of families over and it goes from 1
to 27. Mr. Goldsberry, the enumerator, appears in the
supplement at dwelling 23.
The part of the census that appears in the Bulletin
is divided into two groups. The largest group consists
of families with a head of household and family
members with the same last name. The smaller group is
the boarders both in boarding houses and living
with family groups. The families are indexed
by head of household. The boarders are indexed
by individuals.
The supplement is small and needs no index.
