This Indenture made and entered into this the twenty first of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty four between William J. Ellis of the County and State aforesaid of the one part and Moses R. Mathews of the same place of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said William J. Ellis for and in consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred and twenty four Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the signing and delivery of these presence the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and conveyed and does by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Moses R. Mathews his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the second District of originally Monroe now Pike County containing three hundred and thirty five acres more or less known in the plan of said District by Lot No. one hundred and twenty and the west part of Lot No. one hundred and nineteen which said west part is all of said lot west of the Road leading from Zebulon to McDonough  said road being the one between the East and West part of said Lot to have to hold said parcel of land unto him the said Moses R. Mathew his heirs and assign together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenance thereof to the same in any manner belonging to his and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple.  And the said William J. Ellis for himself his heir executor Administrators the said bargained premises unto him the said Moses R. Mathew his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all other persons whatever.  In Witness Whereof the said
William J. Ellis             has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and
year above written.
