Death of Mrs. Ellis

Yesterday afternoon Mrs. Nancy Ellis, widow of the late Dr. James Thomas Ellis, passed quietly away at her home four miles west of the city, surrounded by her family and friends. She was about 80 years of age and had been in feeble health for some time and her death was therefore not unexpected.

She was a Christian woman in every sense of the word, and had for the greater portion of her long and useful life been a follower of the Master having joined the Baptist church at an early Age. She leaves a large circle of friends and relatives and a number of children to mourn her loss, among the latter being James T., Richard A, Augustus, and Mrs. Dr. T. H. Nunnally, of the county and Sam Ellis of Sumter county.

Her remains will be laid to rest today at the family burying ground near the residence.
