Can you identify the people in these mystery photos?
If so, please let us know!
contributed by David Boehmer
who writes: "I received this photo from Jimmy Deaver who lives in Union
Co. He does not know where the photo was made. Jimmy is a nephew
to Dewey Deaver b. 1900, who was briefly married to my great-aunt
Maybelle Odom. Dewey died at age 20 of the flu or
pneumonia. Maybe one of your readers can identify some of the
people in the photo. Jess Deaver is marked. Henry Deaver, a
brother, is identified with the arrow. This photo was made
between 1906 and 1910. I am pretty sure (from census records)
that the school is located in Union Co. But there is a slight
possibility that it is located just across the county line in Cherokee
Co., NC (a couple of the brothers were born there). I would like
to see if anyone can identify the school and it's location (prob. Ivy
Log dist); and can anyone identify any of the other children."
UPDATE!!
This photo was recognized by Lynna Clampitt who writes:
"I saw this picture as a young
girl at the
home of my grandmother. She (Iva Myrtle Franks) is the second little
girl on the front row, from the left. My grandfather is the little boy
on the far right of the front row. His name was Vance Zeb Underwood.
I can’t quite remember where Granny said this was taken at…I do believe
they lived in the Choestoe area at one time, near one another…however,
considering the age of my grandmother at the time of this photo, it is
quite possible that this was somewhere near Plott Town in Young Harris,
as that is where my Grandmother was born."
