When and to whom was she married? How do you know? I did not see them married but she lived as the wife of Nathan Fowler until his death. How long and since when did you know Nathan Fowler her husband? 50 years or since 1860.When, where and in what company and regiment did Nathan Fowler enlist? In 1862 at Isabella, Worth County, Georgia., Co. G, 14th Ga. Regiment.

Personally appeared before me Norman G Gillis of the county of Worth,
State of Georgia, who, being duly sworn, deposes and says that he was
on the 20th day of September, 1879 a bona fide resident of this State
; that he enlisted in the military service of the Confederate States, or of this
State, as a Private in Company G 14th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers that while
engaged in such military service, to-wit : at the battle or engagement
of Fredericksburg in the State of Virginia on the 13th day of December 1862
he was wounded in the arm, and that the same was amputated close up
to his shoulder that he has not received the payment allowed him for such limb
under Act entitled an Act to carry into effect the last clause of Paragraph 1, Section
1, Article 7 of the Constitution of 1877, approved September 20, 1879
; that he has supplied himself with an artificial limb ; or that, not
having do so, he prefers to supply himself with an artificial Arm Sworn to and subscribed
before me this 8th day of November 1879Clerk Superior Court Worth County, Georgia
Personally came before me William A. Harris of the county of Worth, State of
Georgia, who, being duly sworn, deposes and says that he was Captain
in Company G 14th Georgia Regiment and that Norman G. Gillis, the above
deponent, was a private in said Company, and that this deponent knows
that said, Norman G. Gillis lost an arm in the military service as said in the above

pension in Worth County, Georgia. David Champion, Jesse Hobby and J. A. Hobby of
Worth County, Georgia served as witnesses for her.
Affidavit to be
made by the Widow
STATE OF GEORGIA, County of Worth.
In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for the County of Worth Mrs. H. M. Gaughf, who being sworn according to law, says under oath that she is the widow of Benjamin Gaughf, who was a soldier in the Confederate States, and served as a member of Company G, of the 14th Georgia Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the 4th day of March 1861, and was in the Army up to August 1862. That while on the Army, he was on the 23 day of June 1862: was wounded near Gaines Mill on or about the 21st day of June 1862 and died in hospital at Richmond a few days after from said wounds.
Deponent swears that she was the wife of said
deceased soldier during his service in the army as a soldier, and that she has never
married since his death aforesaid, that she became his wife in the year 1861; that
Georgia is her home.
Affidavit of three witnesses
STATE OF
GEORGIA, County of Worth.
In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for said County, witnesses David Champion, Jesse Hobby, and J. A. Hobby (each known to said Attesting Officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens, who severally say under oath, that, from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. H. M. Gaughf, of the County of Worth, State of Georgia, is the widow of Benjamin Gaughf, who was a soldier in Company G of the 14th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate States (or the Georgia State Troops) on or about the 4th day of March 1861. That while in said service, or by reason of said service in the Army, he lost his life as follows: Shot in the thigh in the State of Virginia on day of the fight near Gaines Mill and died from said wounds. That we are members of the same company and know of his death of our own knowledge.
We futher swear the Mrs, H. M. Gaughf was the wife of said soldier during the service, and that she has not intermarried since his death, and that she resides in Worth County of the State of Georgia.

pension in Colquitt County, Georgia. G. W. Massey of Worth County, Georgia.
Widow’s Affidavit - Who Lost Husband – Killed during war and afterwards married,
now a Widow. STATE OF GEORGIA, Colquitt County. Personally before me comes Mary
B. Wood of said county who after being sworn on oath says that she became the lawful
wife of B. C. Green on the day of Feb 9, 1865 and that he did on the 15th day of
May 1861 enlist in Company G, 14th Ga. Regiment and was on the 27th day of December
1879 killed or died as the result of an injury received while in the line of duty
in June 1864 leaving this applicant, his widow. That on the 27th day of June 1884
she was married to Steve Wood of Colquitt County, and that in the spring of 1906
in the county of Thomas state of Georgia, the said Steve Wood died and that this
deponent is now a widow. That she is now in the use, possession and control of the
following property at the cash value of:75 acres of land of the cash value $800.003
cows 30.00H. H. Goods 15.00Total value of all property $845.00
Affidavit of the Witness to the service and death of soldiers husband and her
marriage STATE OF GEORGIA, Colquitt County. Personally before me comes G.
W. Massey who after being duly sworn on oath says that he knew B. C. Green, that
he enlisted in Company G, 14th Regiment of Confederate veterans on the 15th day
of May 1861 and that on the 27th day of December he was killed or died as a result
of the injury received while in line of duty as a soldier, in the Confederate army,
and that he knows Mrs. Mary B. Wood the applicant. She and her soldier husband were
married on the 9th day of February 1865 and that she was his widow at his death,
that he knows that the said Mary B. Wood married again on the 27th day of January
1884 to one Steve Wood and that her said husband Steve Wood died in spring of 1906
and that the Mary B. Wood applicant is now a widow.

How long and since when have you been a resident of this State? Since December 1893.When and where were you born? Aug. 25, 1841 in Talladega Co. Alabama.
When and where and in what company and regiment did you enlist or serve? From May 1861 to May 1864 in 14th Regiment Georgia Vol. Company G.
How long did you remain in such company and regiment? From May 1861 to May 1864.For how long a period did you discharge regular military duty? Three years.
When, where and under what circumstances were you discharged from service? Taken prisoner of war at Spotsylvania Court House and carried to Fort Delaware.
What is your present occupation? Clergyman.
How much can you earn (gross) per annum by your own exertions or labor? I have no revenue.
What has been you occupation since 1865? A Minister of the gospel.
Upon what grounds do you base you application for pension? Infirmity and poverty, I have had rheumatism since 1866 and as old age comes on it grows worse. I have other afflictions also caused by kidney disease.
What property, effects or income did you posses, and what disposition, is any, did you make of same? Only a small amount received for services as evangelist and selling books.
In what County did you reside, and what property did you then return for taxation? Worth and Wilcox Counties, no taxable property.
How were you supported during those years? Mostly by my children.
Have you a family? If so, who composes such family? Give means of support? Have they a homestead? A wife, two sons, and one daughter the last three are teachers living in rented house.
Are you receiving any pension? None.

Are you acquainted with G. W. Hall, the applicant; if so how long have you known him? Yes, since the year 1861.Where does he reside, and how long and since when has he been a resident of this State? Putnam County, Georgia, lived in Georgia since 1893, he was born in Alabama moved to Florida came back to Georgia in 1893 – lived in Georgia when war commenced.
When, where and in what company and regiment did he enlist, and how do know? In May 1861 we enlisted at Isabella, Worth County, Georgia in Company G, 14th Georgia Regiment.
Were you a member of the same company and regiment? I was.
How long did he perform regular military duty, and what do you know of his service as a Confederate soldier, and the time and circumstances of his discharge from the service? He was captured at Spotsylvania C. H. Virginia May 12, 1864 carried to Ft. Delaware and paroled in March 1865.What property, effects or income has the applicant? He is a very poor man. I am satisfied he has no property.
What is the applicant’s occupation and physical condition? He is a Minster of the Gospel. His physical condition is very poor, very feeble.
Is the applicant unable to support himself by labor of any sort, if so, why? He is unable to support himself by any kind of labor.
How was he supported during those years? Mostly by his children and donations.
Give a full and complete statement of the applicant’s physical condition that entitles him to a pension? He is old broke down, a physical wreck, diseased badly.
What interest have you in the recovery of a pension by this applicant? None at all.

Are you acquainted with George W. Hall the applicant ; if so how long have you known him? I am, have known him about 10 months
Where does he reside and how long and since when has he been a resident of this State? Resides in Georgia. I do not know how long he has been a resident of the State.
When, where and in what company and regiment did he enlist, and how do you know? I do not know.
Were you a member of the same company and regiment? I was not
How long did he perform regular military duty, and what do you know of his service as a Confederate soldier, and the time and circumstances of his discharge from the service? I do not know.
What property effects or income had the applicant? He has nothing at all that I know of. I live near him and know of his circumstances.
Has he conveyed away any property in the last three years, if so, what was it and to whom? He has not that I am aware of.
What is the applicant’s occupation and physical condition? Minister of the Gospel has no charge. I know of his declining to accept a charge. Poor health, he had kidney disease and Rheumatism Is the applicant unable to support himself by labor of any sort, if so, why? He is on account of Kidney disease and Rheumatism.
How was he supported during the years 1896 and 1897? He has been supported by his son since I have know him.
What portion of his support for these two years was derived from his own labor or income? Nothing at all that I am aware of was paid by him.
Give a full and complete statement of the applicant’s physical condition that entitles him to a pension under the Act of December 15th, 1894? He is about 58 years old. Poor health on account of Kidney disease and Rheumatism, has no property that I know of.
What interest have you in the recovery of a pension
by this applicant? None.

Pension: His wife Martha Hayes applied for his
pension in Worth Co. on April 14, 1891. They married on April 4, 1853. Jesse Hobby,
J. A. Hobby, and David Hobby served as witnesses for her.
Affidavit of the Widow
Taken sick and from stories of the members of
his company he died near Orange Court House Virginia on the 8th day
of July 1863 for colic.
Affidavit for three Witnesses
While in the service in the state of Virginia he was taken with colic and that he died immediately from said sickness and that he was a member of the same company that we belonged to. That we know of our own knowledge that he died as stated.
