1880 Federal Census
The 1880 Census date was June 1, 1880. The census collected the following information
about all people:
- Name
- Color - White, Black, Mulatto, Chinese or Indian
- Sex - Male or Female
- Age at last birthday, in fraction if less than one year
- Month born, if born within the census year
- Relationship to head of family
- Columns to check for marital status - married, single, widowed, divorced, and a column to
check if married during the year
- Profession, Occupation or Trade of each male person over 16
- Number of months unemployed during census year
- If the person was sick or temporarily disabled on the day of enumerator's visit, and if
so, what the sickness was
- Columns to check if blind, deaf and dumb, idiotic, insane, maimed, crippled, or bedridden
- Columns to check for those who attended school this year, can't read, can't write
- Place of birth
- Father's place of birth
- Mother's place of birth
