1790
|
Georgia, 4th state to ratify the US Constitution
on January 2, 1788 was one of the 13 original colonies. In 1830 Congress
requested states to forward all their census schedules from 1790-1830.
It was at this time it was determined the 1790 census for Georgia
had been lost or destroyed. |

1st Georgia Census that still exists, no Cobb County
census. Cobb County was still Cherokee Indian Territory at this time.

1830
|
No Cobb County census. Cobb County was established
in 1832 and its land taken from Cherokee County which was created from the ceded lands of the Cherokee Indians. However, there
is an 1834 census for Cobb County. 1838 was the year when the Cherokee Indians were forced to
move out of their territory and relocated to Oklahoma (i.e. the Trail of Tears). |

1st decennial Cobb County Census. The County
was divided into 10 districts plus Marietta. The census shows 1,114 households.

This census was the first census to gather
the names of all individuals in the household and not just the
name of the head-of-the-house. This census records 11,570 residents of Cobb County. There are 14 townships. There is also a separate schedule for
slaves (1850 Slave Schedule).
