![]() 5075 Five Forks-Trickum Road at Garner Road Lilburn, Georgia
Photos taken 2015. The house and barn were demolished in the fall of 2015. This
homestead was dear to many of us in the Mountain Park
community. I live right around the corner, and have
seen
it with the field planted in a sea of tall sunflowers. Kids from Parkview
decorated the scarecrow for every season and holiday. I wish I had taken
more pictures over the years. When I moved into the neighborhood, I painted a watercolor of the house, and it hangs over my sideboard. We sure miss it! ![]() I believe the last
person to live in the house was Miss Jetha Brooks, and the property had
been transferred to her from Mrs. Annie Brooks Puckett.
According to Find-A-Grave.com, Jetha was a member of the Camp Creek
Primitive Baptist Church in Lilburn. She was born Feb. 28, 1923,
and died Dec. 6, 2013. She is buried in the Corinth Cemetery
(across from the former Corinth Baptist Church) at Pounds Road and
Rockbridge Road. Also according to Find-A-Grave.com, her parents were Truman Brooks and Edna Garner Brooks.
By the time Ms Brooks died, the land behind the house had been sold to the developer of Parkview at Garner Creek. ![]() The
photo above was taken from the Mountain Park library across the street
several years ago, with the dogwoods and azaleas in bloom. If a
family member has anything to add to the
history, and/or photographs of the family, I would dearly love to
include them here. If there are any additions and corrections, please
email me.
